Municipal governments in BC are seeking 50 million dollars in revenue from government marijuana sales.
Once the substance becomes legal in October, the government will begin charging an excise tax of 1 dollar per gram.
With the federal government taking 25 percent of the revenue, municipalities at the UBCM convention have asked for 40 percent of the intake, a projected 50 million dollars.
The resolution was put forward at the annual convention yesterday in the form of a two year agreement which would see municipalities make a minimum of 10 thousand dollars.
