An agreement on a contract framework has been met between the provincial government and more than 34 thousand public school employees.
Both the BC Public School Employers’ Association and the K to 12 Provincial Bargaining Committee have endorsed the 3 year agreement, which focuses on improving services and fair wage compensation.
The union represents support staff from a number of occupations, including: custodians, maintenance workers, education assistants, and clerical employees.
Under the agreement, employees would see a 2 percent wage increase per year, targetted local funding for support staff, and the minimizing of risks in accordance with WorkSafe BC requirements.
The contract was negotiated under the government’s Sustainable Services Negotiating Mandate.
