Federal Natural Resources Minister Amarjeet Sohi continued his visit to the Northwest with a stop in Terrace today.
Continuing to build on the theme from yesterday, the Minister took to the podium once more to announce more funding to First Nations, this time to the Kitselas.
Nearly 670 thousand dollars has and will continue to be invested across two forestry projects for the Nation.
The first project is an on-going endeavour which has seen the Ministry invest 600 thousand dollars in to land reclamation, restoration opportunities, environmental monitoring, and the development of a healthy ecosystem.
The second project follows in the footsteps of yesterday’s Gitxsan announcement with a 70 thousand dollar investment in to a biomass heat and energy feasability study.
Minister Sohi says he values the relationship with First Nations communities and the opportunity to work towards more sustainable energy sources.
Sohi says both yesterday’s and today’s announcements help to move the country towards a more sustainable energy model.
