Northern Health is investigating after a series of online racist posts targeting Indigenous people.
The posts, by someone that listed Northern Health as their employer, accused Indigenous people of clogging up the ER and being a drain on the system. The profile has since been deleted.
Northern Health Communications Manager Eryn Collins says the health authority began looking into the concerns right away.
Northern Health has stated that access to culturally safe care is critical to its commitment to improved services and fostering collaborative relationships with Indigenous communities.
Collins calls the situation unfortunate and says that Northern Health is continuing to investate the matter.
