US-based construction company Civeo has pulled out of an agreement to build a 45 hundred person work camp for workers on LNG Canada’s Kitimat project.
Civeo had partnered with Mississauga-based Bird Construction to build the camp adjacent to the Rio Tinto Smelter.
Concerns over LNG Canada’s previous investments and a strategic shift to outsourcing construction work led Civeo to dissolve the partnership.
The project to build the camp, dubbed the Cedar Valley Lodge, will move forward with Calgary-based ATCO Structures set to take Civeo’s place.
ATCO, who had previously constructed a 16 hundred person camp for Site C, will provide the modular rooms for the project thanks to a partnership with the Haisla Nation.
