WestJet is bailing on its Terrace to Calgary route next month.
The company confirms that it’s suspending the twice-weekly direct flight due to less than stellar numbers.
In an email, spokesperson Morgan Bell says the WestJet understands that the discontinuation may be disappointing for the community.
Bell says the airline is adding two additional weekly non-stop flights between Terrace and Vancouver, bringing its weekly flights between the two cities to 15 per week during peak season.
The direct flight to Calgary was introduced in September, 2018 amid strengthening economic investment in the region, including liquified natural gas development.
WestJet says it’s in the process of letting affected travelers know about the changes.
The Terrace-Calgary route ends March 5th.
