Prince Rupert residents and businesses are on track to see something that hasn’t happened in years.
City staff have proposed a two percent tax decrease for both residential and commercial taxpayers in the 2019 budget.
Mayor Lee Brain, addressing staff and council, says the city is finally starting to turn a corner.
The city credits additional industrial tax revenues from new construction for the proposed tax cut.
Other budget highlights include a ten percent boost to the operational paving budget, the addition of two more RCMP officers, and an additional bylaw enforcement officer to better address unsightly properties in the city.
