The City of Prince Rupert is forging ahead with a grant application to help refurbish the CNR Station Heritage Building.
A fixture of Rotary Waterfront Park, the building has been vacant for years and fallen into disrepair.
Council voted to apply for a grant from the Northern Development Initiatives Trust Economic Diversification Infrastructure fund.
The city’s long-term goal is to have the redeveloped heritage building as part of the larger Rupert’s Landing project that would see the relocation of the airport and ferry terminal.
The projected cost of the CNR building project is $4.2 million with the City seeking multiple funding sources.
