A library in Telkwa is celebrating its centennial anniversary.
While few outside of the small community even know of the existence of the Telkwa Reading Centre, it has remained a community mainstay for 100 years.
Even Smithers Councillors were surprised to find out about the anniversary when it was brought to their attention during their last regular meeting.
According to that presentation, the Reading Centre served 850 visitors in 2018 and issued roughly 200 books per month in loans.
Located on Riverside Drive, the library is open Tuesday to Thursday from 3-5 in the afternoon, plus 7-9 in the evening on Thursdays, and from 2-4 in the afternoon on Saturdays.
