Prince Rupert’s next housing development has received one of its most unique cultural features.
The Metlakatla Elders/Seniors Residences are under construction at the former site of the King Edward School on 7th Avenue East.
Workers were able to place one of the Coast Tsimshian inspired hats atop one of the buildings Friday.
The development, based on a Medicine Wheel design, will provide 32 affordable rental units within two two-storey complexes as well as 10 units of row housing available.
The Metlakatla Development Corporation expects to see the project complete sometime in 2019.
