CN plans to spend $345 million to bolster its B.C. rail network, including expansions in the north.
The company says the move is aimed at boosting capacity to meet growing traffic on its provincial corridors.
The railway firm says projects will include construction of a new train passing siding in Port Edward and the addition of 2.5 miles of double track west of Prince George.
CN says the two projects are aimed at improving traffic fluidity in the Port of Prince Rupert.
The company says it’s also plans to replace 115 miles of rail, install 210,000 new railroad ties, and rebuild 38 road crossings around the province along with work on culverts and signals.
CN’s B.C. rail network services ports in Vancouver and Prince Rupert and includes inland terminals in Surrey, Prince George, Kamloops, and Fort Nelson.
