Last week the provincial government announced a new program to lure immigrating entrepreneurs to BC’s smaller communities.
Now, as one of 31 communities taking part in the Provincial Nominee Program’s Entrepreneur Pilot Program, Terrace has announced which areas they will focus on.
A stipulation of the program is that eligible communities focus on 3 industries of need.
For Terrace, these three areas are agriculture and forestry, mining and oil and gas extraction, and miscellaneous manufacturing.
Immigrating entrepreneurs that are deemed entry in to the pilot program will see their required investment drop from 200 thousand dollars to 100 thousand dollars.
On top of that, the necessary networth to enter the PNP via the new pilot will also be cut in half from 600 thousand to 300 thousand dollars.
Successful entrepreneurs will see their time to be nominated for permanent residency cut in half as well.
