A report by the Forest Practices Board has uncovered a number of flaws in compliance and enforcement of BC’s forestry legislation.
While the report found that oversight and compliance in the forestry industry is actually quite high, flaws exist within the compliance and enforcement program itself.
According to the report, the C and E program does little in the way of monitoring forest and range activities, or publicly reporting compliance.
A number of recommendations were put forward in the report to help repair design weaknesses and the inadequacy of public reporting.
Ministry will now be required to review all aspects of their program, from guiding policies, to training tools.
