A project to build a railway overpass near Terrace has been temporarily dropped in favour of more immediate safety upgrades.
In 2015, the Mile 28 Daumont Crossing Project west of Terrace on Highway 16 was budgeted at 37 million dollars.
Since then landscape changes have prompted a revised project budget, nearly doubling the provincial contribution amount.
In light of this, the Ministry of Transportation has temporarily shelved the project in favour of 5 million dollars in safety improvements.
With construction beginning this summer, the improvements will include: upgraded guard rails, and additional visual cues such as flashing signs and speed reader boards.
