Skeena Bulkley-Valley MP Nathan Cullen says it’s time for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to provide clear and swift action after a controversial incident on the Ecstall River last year.
The DFO began its investigation after it was revealed that a fishing lodge used a First Nations communal license to take a group of wealthy Americans fishing for Chinook salmon on the river while the recreational fishery was closed.
Cullen says after nearly a year of waiting, he’s frustrated by what he sees as a lack of action.
Cullen says he has sent two letters to the DFO regarding the situation, but has received no reply to date.
