Terrace City Council received a snapshot of what the Skeena Salmon Arts Festival Society has in store during a presentation yesterday.
Committed to creating a vibrant downtown while building Terrace’s arts community, the Society aims to put Terrace’s unique culture on display.
In order to do this, they will be continuing their mural program, which displays regional art talent and brightens up downtown walls.
They will also be hosting the second annual Skeena Salmon Arts Festival, working to display art in the airport, and displaying student-crafted artwork, among other endeavours.
But the biggest expense for the Society comes in the form of a display being designed for the upcoming traffic circle.
Located at the intersection of Highways 37 and 16, the display will welcome visitors to Terrace.
So the society has proposed a 20 foot high, carved, wooden statue and 6 carved cedar salmon to display in the centrepiece.
