RCMP Dive Team members have located the body of a missing Kitimat fisherman.
Initially, police received reports of the 21 year-old being pulled in to the Kitimat River on Saturday night.
According to reports, the man had been fishing roughly 8 kms north of the town near Powerline Road when he was swept away.
Extensive searches involving members of multiple RCMP units, Kitimat Search and Rescue, Terrace Swift Water Rescue, Kitimat Fire and Ambulance, and more were executed throughout the weekend.
In total, more than 20 personnel across various agencies were involved in the search, which included both helicopter and jet boat hunts.
Now, Kitimat Search and Rescue have confirmed the discovery of the man’s body not far from where he had originally been pulled under.
Members of the victims family have asked that his name not be released.
