Her mother Matilda Wilson and about 50 supporters once again walked a two kilometre stretch of Highway 16 Saturday, journeying to the area where Ramona’s body was discovered ten months after she disappeared.
Wilson told those who joined her that she was humbled by their presence for the annual remembrance walk for her daughter and other missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and men from the area.
Carrying signs, banners, and drumming, the walkers remembered Jessica Patrick , found dead near Smithers in September, 2018, Cindy Martin, who went missing from Hazelton just before last Christmas, Lester Sampson, missing from Glen Vowel since August 2015, and Perry “PJ” Sebastian missing since Boxing Day, 2011.
Ramona Wilson disappeared June 11, 1994. Her body was discovered April 9, 1995 in a wooded area near the Smithers airport.
Anyone with information about any of the cases is urged to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
