Canfor has announced another set of curtailments on the way in northern BC, this time in their pulp division.
This time, the company will be implementing phased curtailments through July and August at their Intercontinental and Northwood NBSK pulp mills in Prince George.
In a release yesterday, Canfor blamed the cuts on “a significant deterioration in market conditions”, on top of the usual supply constraints and costs.
Over the course of the summer, the company expects the curtailments to reduce output by approximately 75 thousand tonnes of pulp.
They did say they fully intend to return to normal operation in September.
