LNG Canada has donated 750 thousand dollars towards the construction and operation of a new dementia care facility in Kitimat.
Of that funding, 500 thousand will go towards construction costs, while 200 thousand will help the Kitimat Valley Institute establish their Care Aid Program.
The remaining 50 thousand will help spread awareness and promote dementia education in the community.
In total, the project is looking to raise 5 million dollars to bring a new style of dementia care to Kitimat.
So far, the fundraiser has already received hefty contributions from Civeo Corporation, the Kitimat General Hospital Foundation, and a District housing grant.
