Severe lightning storms across the northwest this weekend have prompted nine fresh fire starts in the Northwest Fire Centre.
All but two of those fires cover less than a hectare, and most are either under control or being actioned.
Of the new fires, the two most significant are within the Cassiar Fire Zone.
Covering 250 hectares about 135 kms northwest of Dease Lake, the largest of the fires is currently listed as out of control will the Wildfire Service devises a plan.
A fire on the southwest arm of Tagish Lake is the second largest, covering 6 hectares and listed as out of control.
Two other fires, both southwest of Bob Quinn Lake are also listed as less than a hectare within the Cassiar Zone.
In the Skeena Fire Zone, three fires of less than a hectare sprouted up, though the only one not currently under control is burning 35 kms east of Kitimat.
Both the Nadina and Bulkley Fire Zones saw one fire pop up, both less than a hectare and both being actioned.
