B.C.’s independent forestry watchdog will take a look at the activities of a Smithers-area forestry operation.
The Forest Practices Board says it will examine Northern Engineered Wood Products’ harvesting, road work, replanting, and fire protection activities for its forest licence near the communities of Houston, Topley, and Granisle.
The audit will cover activities between July, 2017, and July 25, 2019 to see if they met the requirements of the Forest and Range Practices Act and the Wildfire Act.
The Forest Practices Board audits forest and range practices on public land as well as government enforcement.
