Conifex Timber has announced that it is temporarily curtailing operations at its Mackenzie sawmill.
The company blames continued high log costs and poor lumber market conditions for the two-week shut down starting July 29, 2019.
Canfor recently announced the indefinite curtailment of its Mackenzie sawmill citing similar concerns.
Last week, Fort St. James declared a state of local financial crisis in the wake of the closure and sale of the Conifex sawmill in that community.
