Taylor Bachrach is heading to Ottawa.
Bachrach won in Skeena-Bulkley Valley for the NDP with just over 40 percent of the vote, keeping the seat orange after former MP Nathan Cullen chose not to run.
Reached at his headquarters in Smithers Monday night, Bachrach says it all seemed a bit surreal.
Bachrach also thanked all of the other candidates who ran in the riding.
Conservative candidate Claire Rattée placed a solid second with approximately 34 percent of votes.
Liberal candidate Dave Birdi was well back in third with nearly 12 percent of the vote.
