The Metlakatla Development Corporation and the Cedar Village Housing Society celebrated the grand opening of the Cedar Village Elders Development.
The development offers those 65 and over a new option for affordable housing in Prince Rupert. It’s located at 700 Green St., and features 32 energy-efficient housing units that include a mix of one or two-bedrooms.
The cost of these rooms are below market value making it more accessible for seniors on a fixed income to afford.
Both buildings include a common area and one building even includes a common kitchen to encourage a sense of community among its residents.
Operations of the facility will be overseen by the Cedar Village Housing Society, an independent non-profit society with its own Board of Directors.
