Prince Rupert Port Authority has introduced a new patrol vessel to its fleet.
A blessing ceremony was held yesterday in honour of its newest patrol vessel, the AMWAAL. The name AMWAAL is derived from the Sm’algyax word meaning prosperity. The vessel will provide access to outer anchorages and local communities. It also has a stable platform for in-house environmental monitoring programs as well as strengthened search and rescue via onboard direction-finding equipment.
The new vessel also has industry leading equipment which includes navigation, communications, surveillance, marine fire fighting and high-speed jet-drive maneuverability, all of which serve to greatly enhance marine safety capabilities.
