A 22-year-old man is dead after a weekend stabbing at a rural home near Smithers.
RCMP found the man unconscious, suffering serious wounds after they were called out around 12:30 Saturday morning.
Despite the efforts of first responders and medical personnel, the Smithers man was pronounced dead at hospital.
Investigators say there was an argument between the victim and a man who was known to him at the home.
Police took a 24-year-old man into custody while the investigation continues.
The North District RCMP Major Crime Section, Forensic ID Section, and E Division Mauor Crime are assisting with the case.
Mounties say they believe the stabbing was an isolated incident and have no reason to believe the public is at risk.
