We’re speaking tonight with Lynn Hughan and Carsen Gray, a mother and daughter team who recently collaborated on a bilingual children’s book featuring the Haida Skidegate language, and many seasonal activities local kids partake in while living on Haida Gwaii. The book is called “Twelve Months of Fun with Mattie and Jojo” and it highlights some of the places and faces you might get to see while travelling around the island. In our interview, Lynn and Carsen tell me about how this collaborative project came to be, what kinds of things we can expect to see within the book, as well as how some of it’s parts parallel Carsen’s own childhood.
