The award winning novel Monkey Beach, published in 2000 and written by Kitimat’s Eden Robinson, is a story that’s about to hit the big screen, with this Thursday’s (Sept. 24th) premiere of Loretta Todd’s latest film of the same title. It will debut at the Vancouver International Film Festival to a sold out audience, and more locally here in Northern BC, Tillicum Twin Theatres has planned a special event, with some of the people involved with the project in attendance (Including author Eden Robinson), and there will be special screenings of it following Thursday’s premiere as well. We were lucky enough to get an interview with Loretta ahead of the big night, and not only did she fill us in on what we can expect to see in the film, but she also took us through the journey of her own life, starting from her childhood in Edmonton, to how she became interested in filmmaking, as well as what she’s got on the go at the moment aside from Monkey Beach.
