Some of the election promises from a re-elected NDP would include a one time direct deposit of up to $1000 to families and $500 to single people. They would also create a new Recovery Investment Fund of $3 billion a year over three years that would benefit new schools, hospitals and infrastructure. A BC NDP government would develop a new provincial coastal strategy to better protect coastal habitat and grow coastal economies, as well as taking on new initiatives to protect and revitalize B.C.’s salmon populations.
There will also be a new 10-year cancer care plan for people in more rural communities. There would also be new investments in mental health that would help lower counselling costs.
The B.C. Liberals and Greens are expected to release their platforms this week.
