The City of Prince Rupert has issued a request for proposals to complete the first phase of the water treatment project.
The project is anticipated to be completed in 2023. The City has been collecting water quality data and working with the Province to develop a clear path forward for the project, following the award of Investing in Canada Infrastructure grant funds in August of 2019.
The first step towards this new facility will see the selected proponent assess the water supply system, as well as the specific quality of the above ground water supply. They will then provide recommendations for treatment based on the properties of the local water. The second phase will be contracting out a design and identifying an appropriate location.
Following a City and Provincial efficiency review will be the approval of designs and award of a contract for construction, with ground forecast to be broken in early 2022.
