Last Friday, November 20th, 2 totem poles and a dugout canoe were set to be unveiled as part of the new Coast Tsimshian Cultural Exhibit at the British Columbia’s Northwest Gateway, the Prince Rupert Airport.
Unfortunately, due to the new pandemic restrictions, the event was postponed. But, luckily, because we were already in Prince Rupert for the event, Henry Kelly, the carver behind the canoe, invited us to have a safe and socially distanced interview.
In our chat, Henry discusses the project, as well as the special connection with carving that saved his life.
