The Government of B.C. has announced its plans to extend the rent freeze.
Legislative changes, if passed will see the freeze extended until December 31. B.C. is also looking to stop renovictions. Under this new legislation landlords will be required to apply to the Residential Tenenacy Branch before they can terminate a tenancy agreement for the purpose of renovating. These changes would come into effect July 1 if passed.
Beginning in 2022, rent increases will be capped at the rate of inflation.
