The province is reporting 1,293 new cases of COVID-19, a new daily record. 51 of those new cases are in the Northern Health region.
Currently, B.C. is facing 9,184 active cases of COVID-19, with 15,203 under public health monitoring due to possible exposure to the virus. Of the active cases, 336 are in hospital, with 101 in intensive care. Sadly, the Health Ministry is also reporting two additional deaths related to the virus.
The province has identified 3,776 confirmed COVID-19 cases involving variants of concern, of which 104 are active cases.
Provincial health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, has also issued an Expedited Workplace Closure order, that will allow WorkSafeBC inspectors to order a workplace closed for at least ten days, if it’s determined transmission of COVID-19 occurred there.
