A high speed chase Friday evening on highway 16 which was believed to have begun in Prince Rupert, held up traffic and presumably ended with an arrest.
Witnesses report a black car was travelling east at high speed fleeing from a police cruiser which was in pursuit. The suspect vehicle stopped just west of Exchamsiks and the pursuing officer, with weapon drawn, waited for additional cruisers to assist. Additional officers arrived on the scene and set up a perimeter around the vehicle and eventually the suspect was taken into custody.
Highway 16 traffic was held up for at least an hour during the incident and a train was stopped for a brief period as well. Police are not releasing any details of the incident at the moment and CFNR News will release any further information as it comes available.
