Telus Communications Inc. gave a statement back on July 30 saying that the demand for enhanced wireless networks in the city of Prince Rupert has just been increasing over this past year with a lot of residents working from home and only being able to connect to their families virtually.
The statement was a response to the Prince Rupert City Council rejecting a new proposed location for a new cell phone tower.
During the July 26 city council meeting, an proposal from Telus to construct a 30-meter cell phone tower close to Wilson Ave. and adjacent to Highway 16, was shot down due to concerns about the aesthetic appearance of the structure at the city’s gateway.
To help out with the matter, Telus had already reduced the initial size of 50 meters for the proposed tower, however, the council said no to the location.
And while Prince Rupert has offered alternative locations for the tower, they have not been suitable to Telus for various reasons.
the point of cell towers is to see it to get good signal. the city’s idea is bad cell coverage. i can’t wait to vote them out if there.
