The Bella Coola RCMP had to make an arrest on Wednesday night at around 9 pm after they got a report of shots being fired on a rural property, and as a result of the incident, two people were injured.
The media relations officer for the Bella Coola dispatch of the RCMP, Sgt. Chris Manseau, gave a statement saying that while officers were visiting a local hospital, they had a conversation with a group of people that gave the officers an indication that they had approached what they believed to be an abandoned property.
And not that far away from the approaching group, a person came out from some bushes with a gun and began firing at the group while they were still in their vehicle.
The shots ended up hitting the vehicle and causing injuries to two people.
Members of the Prince George RCMP Emergency Response Team were notified of the incident and went on to help make sure that the suspect was detained.
Manseau also stated that the Bella Coola RCMP currently believes that this incident was isolated and that the public is not in any danger of an armed threat.
The Bella Coola RCMP is also asking that anyone with information regarding this incident contact them at 250-799-5363.
