The BC Lions have gotten special Orange T-shirts with an Indigenous version of their logo created in order to bring awareness to the first ever National Truth and Reconciliation day this September 30th.
Ten thousand of these shirts are going to get handed out at the team’s September 24th home game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders .
George Chayka , the team’s vice-president, gave a statement saying that both teams will have orange tape on their uniforms to raise awareness of the day that was created in order to honor those that survived and perished in of Canada’s residential school system.
The Lions will be giving out 350 tickets to both survivors and their families so they can go to the game, and they will also be making a 20-thousand-dollar donation to the Orange Shirt Society.
