People that reside in long-term care homes and assisted-living facilities throughout BC are going to be getting booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine at the start of next week.
Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has sent out a statement saying that the latest batch of data is showing that taking a third shot of the vaccine six months after the second dose will maximize the third shot’s effectiveness.
Henry also mentioned that seniors will also be getting an influenza shot along with the third COVID vaccine dose.
Henry mentioned a previously made announcement as well, highlighting a plan to give third shots to people who are seriously immunocompromised, along with another plan to provide more info on third shots to people who are in good health.
She also gave encouraged everyone who can get vaccinated, to get vaccinated in order to protect those who are more easily able to get infected as well as the kids under 12 who can’t get vaccinated yet.
