A new program which aims to provide Indigenous youth with practical experience and education, has received a funding boost.
The Forest Products Association of Canada has made a 10 thousand dollar investment in the Outland Youth Employment Program.
Through a national network of land-based education, the program aims to provide key work opportunities for high school-aged Indigenous residents.
Youth will be provided with training and education in a wide array of work environments.
According to the FPAC, the donation was made due to OYEP’s proven record with providing well trained talent and leaders to the forestry sector.
According to 2019 figures, 92 percent of OYEP participants go on to graduate highschool, and 77 percent are employed.
