After five days of celebrating the best and brightest talent in Indigenous film making, the imagineNATIVE Film and Media Arts Festival officially wrapped up yesterday.
But, it didn’t do so without handing out some prestigious awards.
Local resident and Wet’suwet’en member Lorna Brown took home the New Voice in Storytelling Award for her moving documentary, Adaawk.
Adaawk tells the tales of those impacted by the Highway of Tears, while also showing the raising of the Grandmother Pole in Kitsumkalum.
Among the other award winners were Caroline Monnet, who took home the Dramatic Feature Award for Bootlegger, and Landon Dyksterhouse who nabbed the Documentary Feature Award for Warrior Spirit.
