According to the results of the most recent Labour Force Survey, employment in the Northwest has remained relatively steady.
For October of this year, the unemployment rate came in at 7.9 percent, higher than the provincial rate of 5.6 percent.
For the Northwest specifically, the figure equals that of September, while also matching the unemployment rate from last October’s Survey.
Full time employment rates for the Northwest came in at 79 percent, on par with the provincial average, but below both the Northeast and Cariboo, who registered 81 and 80 percent, respectively.
Figures for the Northwest are taken from the Labour Force Survey’s North Coast and Nechako category, which includes the Bulkley-Nechako, Kitimat-Stikine, and North Coast regions.
