Despite a record setting third quarter in terms of production, Interfor saw earnings decreases when compared to both the last quarter and last year.
Lumber production jumped to 731 million board feet across the quarter, 15 million more than quarter two.
That comes despite a drop in BC-based production from 192 million to 164 million, mostly due to wildfires in the Interior, which generally accounts for 19 percent of the company’s total production.
Financially, the company saw just 65.6 million dollars in net earnings across the quarter, compared to around half that in the same quarter of 2020, and 419 million in earnings last quarter.
While net earnings suffered, the company still pulled in an estimated 665 million on the quarter before deductions.
