Operations could resume at one of BC’s most unique mines as early as next summer.
Operated by First Tellurium Corp, the Deer Horn mine, south of Smithers, is one of BC’s only quality tellurium mines.
Tellurium, one of Earth’s rarest elements, is used in the manufacturing of solar panels, next-gen lithium-tellurium batteries, and a wide range of computer and electronic devices.
Earlier this week, the mine received its 5 year exploration work permit from the Ministry of Mines and Energy, putting them on pace to relaunch mining activites next summer.
In addition to the tellurium, the polymetal mine also features usable deposits of gold, silver, copper, zinc, tungsten, and more.
