A new company has been formed to help bring better internet service to remote coastal communities in Northern BC.
CityWest Gitga’at Communications Corp has been formed thanks to a partnership between CityWest and the Gitga’at Development Corporation.
Through the partnership, the groups hope to bring reliable high speed internet to coastal communities that are generally more cut off or harder to access.
One such community is Hartley Bay, which will be connected via the program to the Connected Coast Project, which will connect the North to the South via a massive undersea fibre-cable.
As part of the partnership, a portion of the new company’s proceeds will be invested back in to Gitga’at First Nation communities.
