Stikine MLA Nathan Cullen is set meet with a group of Gitxsan Hereditary Chiefs who issued him an eviction notice last week.
Members of the Gitxsan Huwilp Government posted the notice on Cullen’s Hazelton office, citing a failure to protect his constituents.
They say the MLA failed to stand up for Wet’suwet’en land defenders during a militarized RCMP injunction enforcement earlier this month.
In addition, an arrest made last week at a blockade set up in solidarity by the Gitxsan led to similar calls of police brutality.
A video released to social media prior to the eviction shows a number of officers apprehending a single individual, and kneeling on his back.
According to the Gitxsan Huwilp, despite all this, and being sworn to represent them, Cullen still failed to stand up for them in Victoria.
The eviction notice was also extended to all corporations which seek to profit from poisoning and exploiting their land and resources.
Cullen says he will be speaking with the Chiefs this week, and is confident they can come to an understanding.
