Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Taylor Bachrach is urging the Liberal government to take more meaningful action to stop climate change.
Bachrach is asking Ottawa to heed recent advice from a Environment and Sustainable Development Commissioner report by cutting emissions and helping workers transition to a low-carbon future.
Currently, Canada is the highest emitter of greenhouse gases per capita, and the only country in the G7 whose emissions have risen since 2015.
The MP is calling for a national plan to help communities, provinces, and industry meet Canada’s stated climate change targets.
He says that doing this will require meaningful investments in renewable energy, with a focus on helping workers find good jobs in the industry.
