While there are no active weather warnings in the Northwest today, the roads are still facing the fallout of the last week’s worth.
You would be forgiven for confusing streets with ice rinks today, as extremely slippery conditions plague northern roads.
Travel advisories are in place on Highway 16 from Prince Rupert to Terrace, and all the way through to Cedarvale.
Highway 37 is also facing a travel advisory between Kitimat and Terrace.
All advisories are issued due to the ice and freezing rain, but most other roads also have warnings in place regarding compact snow.
Yesterday’s freezing rain and road conditions prompted Terrace, Kitimat, and Prince Rupert all to send out messages cautioning residents against driving.
In summary, it’s probably best to stay off the roads as much as possible today.
