Northern Health patients heading from Prince Rupert to Prince George yesterday were lucky to escape a serious collision, injury free.
Early yesterday morning, a Northern Health Connections bus pulled over on Highway 16 between Prince Rupert and Terrace to install chains.
Road conditions had been treacherous all day, and had led to multiple travel advisories and closures on Northern roads.
While the bus was pulled over, near Agate Creek, a semi-truck lost control amid the icy conditions and collided with the bus.
Luckily, no injuries were reported and a second Connections bus was dispatched to bring the patients back to Prince Rupert.
Road conditions were determined to be too hazardous to continue the trip to Prince George, and patients stayed the night in Prince Rupert.
Continued freezing rain is causing similar conditions today, with a number of other incidents already occurring on the roads.
