Prince Rupert Council gave approval last night for a funding application for a wastewater treatment facility.
That facility, which would be located at Omineca avenue, is aimed at collecting and treating both sewer and storm water from the nearby area, in a more environmentally friendly manner.
The project is likely to receive about 4 million of the 6 million dollars needed to build the facility via government grants.
Once complete, the facility will have a year long test run to determine its effectiveness.
The project was also touted for how it will benefit Prince Rupert with it’s innovative, sustainable and low cost treatment process.
